The Tipperary Hill Dead shirt combines the iconic skull from Steal Your Face with my original ink work of the only stop light in the country with Green On Top.
It all started when my good buddy, Henesey, shared an idea and commissioned me to make just one shirt for his wife. Â Henesey is an idea man…this was one of his better ideas.
For those that don’t know the story…Almost a century ago, the Irish of Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, New York were not happy with the English. Â They took out their frustrations on the light at the intersection of Tompkins Street and Milton Avenue. Â They hated the English Red above the Irish Green, so they threw stones. Â Over and over, the City would repair the light only to be vandalized again, until finally, the City gave up and approved the Green On Top.
I have always liked hanging out on Tipperary Hill. Â In my younger days, I worked as a bouncer at the Blarney Stone. Â Rosie O’Grady’s, Coleman’s and Nibsy’s were frequent stops. Â These days I hang out at Steve’s Restaurant. Â Good bartenders. Â Good people. Â I sold the first batch of these shirts at Steve’s.
This is the original artwork. Â It is approximately 18″x24″. Â Watercolor and ink on paper. Â Some guy bought it off my merch table at a Dark Hollow gig at Coleman’s. Â There are two other original ink and watercolor paintings with different designs. Â Henesey owns one and the other is in Ireland.
